As I work and meditate this morning at the church, I can't help but think about how blessed my family and I are to be part of the church at Folsom.  These people have been my family for years.  I remember coming to visit with my friends, Marlon and Kris, when I was a wee little lad.  My how things have changed from that boy who visited once in a blue moon to now.  I love these folks with my whole heart.  I know there is nothing they would not do for my family or any other family.  As you move into 2015, don't focus on the negatives of your local assembly.  Look at all the positives.  God has placed you where you are.  The more involved you get, the more you will see that humans make mistakes.  Don't let that steal the joy of your salvation.  Don't let that drive a wedge between you and your brothers and sisters in Christ.  To God be the glory!  God bless you!

1 Peter 5:6-7  Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.  Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Good morning.  I am sitting here in my office on a Sunday morning.  Normally, I would be floundering around trying to put the finishing touches on my sermon; however, today, I am getting caught up on some things in the office and on The Word.  We are having some special guests with us from Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College this morning.  They will conduct the entire service.  In my studies this morning, I came across the verses above.  What do you have going on in your life right now?  You see, many times in my life I struggle.  We all do.  That is just part of being flesh.  Our back hurts.  Knees don't work like they once did.  It is stressful at work.  At times, it seems like this ol' world has us down and the ref is about to start the count to three.  But guess what!  Greater is He who is in me, than he that is in the world.  I have read the end of the book!  We win, people!  That gives us something to smile about.  That aching back doesn't seem all that noticable.  Today, while you are out and about, smile a little bigger and thank The Lord for what you have been blessed with.  We have nothing to fear.  In due time, He will lift you up!  Have a great day.

It has been one week since my mom went to be with the Lord.  It seems just like yesterday.  Today, she would celebrate her 67th birthday.  Everything that has happened over the past week has forced me to ponder my mortality.  I do believe that my mom's passing has been the toughest thing I have ever experienced in this life.  My flesh struggles with the fact that I no longer have my mom here.  At night when I lie down, my mind takes over, and I experience everything all over again.  However, there is good news in all of this.  Thank God that an earthly death is not the end.  I can say this because I am a child of God.  There is something on the other side.  I have been promised that.  The Spirit inside me is so happy that Mom doesn't have to continue to live in this junk.  She no longer hurts.  She no longer has to sit through dialysis three times per week.  She has looked upon the throne of God.  She has seen those who have been waiting for her.  Now she waits for me.  One day I will see her again.  I will make sure of it.  I love you, Mom.  Happy birthday.  May God bless everyone who reads this.

I am so happy and excited about what God has been doing in our church!  Some of our ladies were involved in organizing a women's retreat called REAP.  It was held at Folsom on August 24.  Wow!  God really worked in and through these ladies.  We had 103 ladies present!  God is awesome!  We have been having great services.  God has been sending many visitors through our doors, and we are giving Him praise for blessing.  Bottom floor of the gym is finished.  Stop by some time and check out how beautiful it looks.  Continue to pray for us as we do the Lord's work.  We give Him all of the credit.  We want Him to be glorified.  If you do not have a church home, remember us while looking.  More information is found on this site.  May God bless you!

Good evening.  It has been a while since I last blogged.  It has been a very busy summer for the Whitmire clan.  As I sit here, I am physically worn out.  Why is life so hectic?  It seems like the more time I try to plan out my day, the more unexpected things arise.  We had a great church camp this summer.  Jeff Self did a fantastic job preaching God's Word to the kids.  He just laid it all out there.  He was real.  Nothing was sugar coated.  God used him in a mighty way.  Not just speaking to the kiddos but to the adults as well.  We lose sight of what it means to be transformed.  Many of us "Christians" say we have been "transformed", but there is nothing different about us than from any lost person we come in contact with on a daily basis.  Instead, we continuously conform ourselves to the cares of this world.  Wow!  I guess I have just answered my question.  Life is so hectic because I allow "life" to get in the way of my spiritual journey.  May God bless you.
